About the Event
When our school year ends, we will begin our summer literacy program, Beyond the Books: A Summer of Building Literacy & Life Skills Beyond Books
Our program will span 7 weeks, meeting twice weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, and will combine engaging literacy instruction with hands-on, real-world activities. Each session will focus on improving reading and comprehension skills while connecting these lessons to practical life skills. For example, students might read a recipe to bake cookies, follow written instructions to build a birdhouse, or create a small garden using planting guides, all of which reinforce literacy through fun and meaningful experiences. This integrated approach ensures students are not only improving their reading abilities but also developing essential skills they can use in everyday life.
